Aker Energy is looking for a CEO advisor to join the company at an exciting and demanding stage in our process to develop our oil and gas resources in Ghana.

The purpose of the role is to provide comprehensive, proactive and efficient support to the CEO and the leadership team in Oslo, by maintaining the overview of critical activities and coordinate the management response to internal and external requirements and deadlines.

Responsibilities and tasks

  • Assume leadership of the Project Administration Office (physical and virtual) and ensure that activities, analyses, reports and communication are coordinated as required to efficiently move forward according to the stated strategic ambition
  • Work closely with the Decision Support Team to ensure that all decision challenges are discussed in the right fora and handled in a timely manner
  • Participate in management meetings and ensure that all important news and actions are captured and responsibility and deadlines defined and communicated
  • Prepare memos, presentations, handouts, and other documents based on input from the management team and other assigned contributors
  • Maintain highly effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Advise, support and challenge the CEO and other management colleagues as needed
  • Perform ad hoc assignments requested by the CEO/Management team

Qualifications & personal attributes

Education: University degree within economic or technical disciplines

Experience: 5+ years of relevant professional experience, preferably within the oil & energy sector. Practice from some of the following areas is a definite benefit; strategy processes, project management, economic analysis, schedule and risk management, decision support.

Preferred skills and personal qualities:

  • Strong academic results from a prestigious university and/or experience from a recognized institution
  • Ability to understand the business needs and drivers, evaluate and apply technical information
  • Hands-on with high work capacity, focus on quality and problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to juggle many parallel tasks and prioritise within tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal skills, team player, ability to work in different cultural environments
  • Independent, proactive, and result oriented
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Efficient user of standard software packages
