We are currently operating a drillship in Ghanaian waters and will continue our activity with a new campaign next year. The upcoming rig activity, likely to be for several rigs, covers exploration and development drilling in water depths ranging from 2,000 – 3,500 m.

The Drilling Superintendent role will mainly be based in Accra, with frequent travel to Oslo for planning purposes.

Responsibilities and tasks

Responsibilities and tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Managing large offshore and office-based teams
  • Managing service companies to deliver excellent HSE & operational performance
  • Mentoring less experienced team members in Oslo & Accra to develop organisational capability for Aker Energy
  • Coordinating team activities for timely responses, submittals, presentations and proposals

Qualifications & personal attributes

  • Diploma or equivalent Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Minimum 15 years' experience within Drilling & Wells
  • Minimum 3 years' as a Drilling Supervisor (DSV), Senior Tool Pusher or other equivalent operational leadership position
  • Well Engineering experience
  • Deep-water experience preferred
  • Experience with subsea operations, horizontal drilling and advanced completions
  • Familiarity with IOR/EOR operations and project design
  • Strong HSE working knowledge and leadership
  • IWCF Well Control Supervisor Level or equivalent
  • Track record for performance delivery
