Responsibilities and tasks

Project phase:

The Flow Assurance Lead has technical engineering responsibility for the FEED and Execution Phase of the project. Reporting to the Central Engineering Manager.

  • Follow up of all flow assurance aspects of the project
  • Flow assurance technical risk management
  • Provide technical reasoning and decision basis on topics related to flow as part of field development
  • Manage required flow assurance activities and studies as needed to mature project definition across the disciplines
  • Lead flow assurance review activities to ensure consistency and accuracy of project design premise
  • Identification and follow-up of identified flow assurance risks
  • Develop and maintain flow assurance documentation required for internal and external communication
  • Provide project engineering status input to the project team and to other stakeholders
  • Ensure professional communication of all engineering aspects to the Central Engineering Manager
  • Document reviews, HAZOP, HAZID, design reviews, interface management, management of change control, digitalisation and other related activities as assigned in project

Key responsibilities and tasks:

  • Responsibility for flow assurance activities including an active role in developing flow assurance strategies
  • Overview and understanding of overall field development drivers and experienced with concept screening and optimization processes
  • Manages flow assurance verification and validation activities
  • Assist other disciplines in accordance with project requirements
  • Participate in design review meetings in accordance with project requirements
  • Contribute to the validation process
  • Contribute to the technical reports and specifications writing

Qualifications & personal attributes

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Process / Chemical Engineering or other relevant discipline
  • Minimum 5-10 years work experience within flow assurance
  • Relevant experience may compensate for lack of formal education
  • Experience in flow assurance aspects for offshore assets in Ultra deep waters
  • Experience of flow assurance with SPS (subsea production system) and SURF (subsea umbilical riser and flowline) at a system level
  • Fundamental understanding of fluid mechanics in subsea production systems and how it impacts concept selection and definition for oil field developments
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to convey technical information clearly to provide basis for decision making
  • Experienced user of multiphase flow simulators and fluid characterization software
  • Overall system architecture for FPSO and subsea production systems incl SURF
  • Project engineering experience from field development projects
  • Experience in flow assurance aspects in combination with the use of Subsea Multiphase pumps as artificial lift
  • Experience of working with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams
  • HAZID and HAZOP / SIL experience
  • Strong inter-personal and communication skills
  • Ability to synthesize information, identify problems, establish facts and deduce solutions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and interpersonal skills
