Responsibilities and tasks

The Material Lead has technical engineering responsibility for material aspects of the project. This is a senior level role, reporting to the Central Engineering Manager.

  • Follow-up of all technical aspects of the project and technical coordination between Field Development delivery team projects
  • Input to project technical risk management
  • Ensures implementation of technical aspects related to the Management of Change process, related to area of responsibility
  • Provide input of project engineering status to the project team, and to other stakeholders
  • Ensure professional communication of all engineering aspects to the Central Engineering Manager
  • Participate in design and engineering phase of facility system with special attention to system integrity and verification activities related to flow assurance, subsea and topside process system based on design information received by selected suppliers (based on Aker Energy standards and specification)
  • Document reviews, HAZOP, HAZID, design reviews, interface management, management of change control, digitalization and other related activities as assigned in project
  • Support integration across technical interfaces with the Topsides, Subsea, Wells, Subsurface and Operations teams

Qualifications & personal attributes

  • Bachelors or Master's degree in Material Engineering or other relevant major
  • Long relevant experience may compensate lack of formal education
  • More than 10' years working experience within materials
  • Experience from offshore oil and gas projects
  • Experience with MARINE, TOPSIDE, SPS (subsea production system) and SURF (subsea umbilical riser and flowline)
  • Experience with overall system architecture for FPSO topside process
  • Field development projects within oil and gas industry
  • Experience of working with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams is strongly preferred
  • Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
  • Ability to coordinate input from multi-disciplined, geographically dispersed teams
  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate complex topics to various audiences
  • Fast learner with energy and enthusiasm
  • High energy, results-driven and strong inter-personal and communication skills
  • Ability to combine and structure information, identify problems, establish facts and deduce solutions
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and interpersonal skills
