Our Exploration team is looking for a Senior Geologist to strengthen our organisation in Oslo, Norway, by supporting the development of our oil discovery offshore in Ghana. In this role you will analyse, interpret, and integrate broad data sets (seismic, rock physics, core, petrophysics, structural, sedimentology, stratigraphy and dynamic data) for prospect evaluation and maturation.

Responsibilities and tasks

Responsibilities and tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring high quality geological analysis by the teams with compliance and consistency to company system standards
  • Seismic interpretation using Petrel or Kingdom software
  • Geological correlations
  • Regional geological studies and play map generation
  • Prospect evaluation and maturation
  • Identifying and managing key subsurface uncertainties
  • Participating in all technical milestone meetings with stakeholders in order to update management with solution on key issues for approval of strategic objectives
  • Follow-up exploration and appraisal drilling
  • Creating reports/summaries to document the project and communicating with other professionals in the field
  • Ensuring contractor systems are reviewed and signed off as appropriate (e.g. work practices, competencies, and risk analysis meets or exceeds documentation)
  • Mentoring and developing young G&G staff, regarding technical competence and broader relationship management skills

Qualifications & personal attributes

  • Master of Science or PhD in Geology
  • 5+ years' industry experience from exploration activity
  • Previous experience from an oil and gas operator company
  • Experience in three or more of the following: Seismic Interpretation, Petrophysics, Basin Analysis, Sedimentology, Structural Geology, Stratigraphy, or Prospect Evaluation
  • Experience from deep-water depositional environments
  • Ability to integrate data from different disciplines
  • Dedicated team player
  • Fluency in English
  • Proactive, creative, and efficient
  • Positive attitude and good communication skills
